Edward Brown

November 3, 1954 — June 12, 2009

Richard Edward Brown III, passed away at home on Friday June 12, 2009. Richard is preceded in death by his father, Richard Edward Brown, II and is survived by his mother, Ann Brown; wife, Peggy Ann Brown; daughter, Adrianna Bethaney Brown; brother, Raymond; and sisters, Karen and Brenda. When Richard was two years old, he missed his father so much that when he left, Richard broke all the windows of the car because he missed his dad; he didn't get punished because his father knew he was missed. In first grade, Richard got very bored in his advanced class and one day told his teacher that he wished he would be on the moon. In fifth grade, Richard didn't like the little girl who sat in front of him, so one day he decided to cut off her pig tails. In elementary school, he started playing the trumpet, but when he got to high school and had his braces put on, the trumpet would cause his braces to bleed. His teacher asked him if he'd like to switch to baritone and ever since that day Richard fell in love with the tuba. While attending University, Richard became a member of the band and every game the tuba players would surround the dancing girls and keep the guys from getting to them. There was a time when Richard's band was going to play the Orange Bowl and they had gotten a bit hammered the night before, so while walking to the Orange Bowl they took a wrong turn and ended up right back at the hotel they where staying at. Richard was a vibrant man who always motivated to get things done. He was caring and could make you smile even if you didn't want to. Richard was loved and will be well missed. Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009, 5PM 8PM with a funeral service Saturday, June 20, 2009, 1PM, both at Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance.
