An acclaimed artist who studied at Fresno State College and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Otis Art Institute, Dorothy was a Professor of Painting, Drawing, Design, and Metals at Mt. San Antonio College from 1964-1991. Her work was exhibited in Japan, New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, and Laguna Beach.
In recent years, Dorothy and nieces Gloria Merk and Debbie Moglia formed Merkwork Fine Art (merkworkfineart.com) to share her work.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her partner Virginia McBride and brother and sister-in-law Andy and June Merk.
Surviving Dorothy are her brother Herbert Merk and his wife Pauline, of Sanger, seven nieces and nephews and their families, and her dear friend Ronald Ownbey of South Pasadena.
