Dora Mora Gafney was born on June 28, 1925 at Pomona Valley Hospital. Raised by her father Albert B. Mora, Dora lived in Arcadia with her two sisters, Vera and Virginia. After graduating from Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte (aka MAD) High School in the winter of 1944, she attended Pasadena Business College. As a young woman during WW II, Dora joined the Marines for a short time before the war ended. Then, in May of 1949, she married Johnie A. Gafney and had a son, Stephen, in 1953 where they resided in Monrovia most of their lives. Dora celebrated 56 years of marriage and retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance Company in 1990 after decades of service as an executive secretary. Dora was a talented seamstress and spent her leisure time between the pages of literature. She is survived by her son, Stephen, and daughter-in-law, Mary, grandsons, Collin and Cameron of Highland, California. Her sister, Virginia Kazman of Ontario, Canada also survives Dora. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. There will be a viewing at Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on February 14, 2013
