Donna Sue Hartman

March 7, 1944 — April 27, 2013

Donna Sue Cogburn Hartman; beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away from this earth on Saturday, April 27, 2013, due to complications related to cancer. She is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years; William C. Hartman, her three children and their spouses, Jason and Rileen Hartman, Kyle and Taryn Hartman, and Robyn and Thomas Hanks, as well as ten grandchildren, eight siblings, and six foster children. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sybil Cogburn, and by a foster son, Robert Blackman. Donna will long be remembered for her love of family and friends, and her loyalty to both her ability and willingness to lift up those around her; and for her unfailing devotion to God, family, friends, and country. Nothing in this world brought her more joy and happiness than when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Donna was born March 7, 1944, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to George and Sybil Cogburn, the eldest of nine children. Within a few years, she moved with her parents and young sister, Carolyn, to Southern California, eventually settling in La Puente. She attended and graduated from El Monte High School in 1963. On September 5, 1964, she married William Hartman (Bill) in West Covina, California. In 1972, Bill and Donna were baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1978, they moved, with their three small children, to Covina, California. In 1982, this small family was sealed as an eternal family in the Los Angeles Temple, and all continue to serve as active members of their faith.
Funeral services for Donna will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1271 West Badillo Street, (corner of Lark Ellen and Badillo). A viewing will be held from 9:00am until 10:30am in the Relief Society Room. Memorial services will begin at 11:00am in the chapel. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm at Rose Hills Memorial Park located at 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier. The family wishes to thank all those who have expressed their condolences and offered support during this time of need.
