Donald A. Murray

MURRAY, Donald A., loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed away on February 7 in Arcadia, CA. Don was born on January 14, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to Albert and Florence (Pat) Murray. He and his only brother Jack (who predeceased Don) were good buddies throughout childhood and adulthood. Don graduated from Central High School in 1948 and later earned a B.S. in Business Administration from La Salle University. He served a brief tour in the U.S. Army in the early 1950s. Don began his long and prosperous career with ARCO (then Atlantic Refining) in Philadelphia in the mailroom. He retired in 1993 in Los Angeles as the Corporate Vice President of Human Resources after 44 years with the company. Along the way Don earned the respect of his peers and served as a friend and mentor to many. Those who knew or worked with Don appreciated his intellect, accomplishments, sense of humor and willingness to share his knowledge. He was an incredible man. After retirement, Don enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time at the Jersey Shore with family. Don will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Alice, son Mark, daughter Pam (Bill) Leonard, son Rick (Janet) Robinson, son Rob (Karen) Robinson and daughter Carol (David) Crosby, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Don in Philadelphia and Arcadia are pending.
