Donald Richard Gorton

Donald Richard Gorton passed away peacefully at his home in Duarte, California, on May 11, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Maria, daughter Annie, and son David, along with many nieces and nephews in the Kelly and Gorton families. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Leslie Gorton, his mother, Catherine Maria (McKinnon) Gorton of Trumbull, Connecticut, his brother Fred Gorton and sisters Dolores Gorton Watson and Claire Gorton Kelly . Born in Liberty, New York, on September 9, 1941, Don attended Stratford High School in Stratford, Connecticut, and graduated from Fairfield University in Connecticut in February 1964. He earned his Master of Science degree in Systems Management at the University of Southern California in 1973 and an MBA from California State University Los Angeles in 1979. Don served honorably as a captain in the Air Force in Vietnam. After his service, he pursued a successful career in the manufacturing industry. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his beloved wife and socializing with friends and family. He was a member of the BPO Elks and Clampers. Those who knew him will remember his extensive collection of frog-themed items. Don spent his last days peacefully at home with his wife, their two dogs, his many friends, and family members. A rosary will take place Wednesday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance at 600 E. Foothill Blvd. in Monrovia, California.
