Donald L. Callahan, born September 15, 1927, in Quincy, IL to Wesley and Edith (Hickey) Callahan, he married Julia Orleans April 14, 1951 at St. John's Church in Peoria, IL (divorced in 1966). She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Also surviving are his four children; David Callahan (Karol, deceased) of Pekin, IL, Richard Callahan (Louise) in Jacksonville, FL, Mary (Callahan) Maroon (Gary) in Callahan, FL and Stephen Callahan (Jakie Leonardi) in Jacksonville, FL. In Pekin he has three grandchildren; Holly Callahan, Andrew Callahan and Melody (Callahan)Willock (Travis). He also has one grandson Bifford Maroon (Blair) in Gainesville, FL, a great granddaughter Emma Maroon and great grandson Evan Maroon both of Gainesville, FL. He was a WWII injured/disabled veteran in army intelligence under General MacArthur in the Philippines. He attended college in Quincy, IL, retired from 3M Corporation and was an active foreign missionary until declining health. In later years until he died he was a chaplain performing prison ministry correspondence from his home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 11:15am at Riverside National Cemetery. He will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors.
