Dennis Jarl Woerner

Dennis Jarl Woerner passed away in Pasadena, California on November 14, 2009, losing his battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was 57. Dennis was born on February 1, 1952, the third and youngest son of George & Mable Woerner. Dennis grew up in San Gabriel and attended Roosevelt grammar school. He was active in his Lutheran Church and was a Boy Scout. After graduating from San Gabriel High School in 1970 he enrolled in Cal State LA and received his bachelor’s degree in Economics. Upon graduation he was hired by Friedman Bag Company in Los Angeles and worked there for several years before moving to Pathfinder logistics/Trucking. He spent the next 32 years there as Manager and retired on September 18, 2009. While working his way through college as a cook at Pie King Restaurant in Arcadia he met Debbie Wagner. They dated for 7 years and were married on October 14, 1978. They spent the next 31 years of life together, enjoying extensive travel in the early years of their marriage .. Hawaii, Tahiti, several trips to Europe, Canada, and the eastern United States. Three children followed ... Kenny (age 18), Curtis and Wendy (11 year-old twins). In his youth Dennis enjoyed back-backing and long weekends at the Colorado River. He enjoyed the excitement of Santa Anita Race Track, and he nurtured a life-long passion for gardening. Dennis is survived by his wife, children, and one brother, David. He will be dearly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at the Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance on Saturday, December 5 at 10:30 AM
