Dale D. Hanover

Dale Hanover passed away on November 12, 2010, at the age of 84. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 15, 1926, where he grew up til he was 17. His father transferred his work to Portland, Oregon where the family moved in 1943. He entered the Navy in 1944 and served in the South Pacific, in Hawaii and Eniwetok as a Petty Officer 2nd Class in Naval Communications. He later attended Portland State University where he earned a B.S. in Business in 1957. He met Odette Grippon at a church group and they were later married. They moved to Southern California where Dale became accounting manager at Alfred Hart Co. (Later NDC Distributors) for 26 years. He and his wife invested in 2 apartment buildings that Odette managed for 25 years. Dale was also a member of Duarte Elks Lodge and was an active member of S.E. Los Angeles Kiwanis for many years, and a member of L.A. World Affairs Council. He and Odette loved to travel, visiting many areas of the U.S. and the world. Dale spent his retirement years participating in aerobics and gardening at home. A Funeral service will be held at Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance Funeral Home, 600 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia, CA on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at 11:00 am with a viewing to be held at 10:00 am.
