Christ Krantz

October 2, 1924 — January 30, 2012

Christ Krantz fell asleep in the Lord on January 30, 2012 at the age of 87 years old. Christ was born in 1924 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to his parents James and Agatha Krantz who both immigrated from Greece in approximately 1914. Christ graduated from Bay View High School and then attended Carroll College before enlisting in the US Army and serving his Country in World War II for four years. Upon his return from the Army, he and his brother George opened Veteran’s Linen Supply Company which they owned and operated for over 40 years. With the success of their linen business, he and his brother then went on to build and develop two hotels (Ramada Inns) in the Milwaukee area which included the famous Steak Knife Restaurant on Blue Mound Road. Christ was also one of the initial investors in Tri City National Bank in Milwaukee and served as a director for the Bank for over 30 years. Always fond of the ocean, Christ eventually retired to Jupiter, Florida where he enjoyed his boat and living so close to the ocean. He also spent time in Orange County California as well. Christ was also an avid hunter with his brother George. His hunting adventures included trips to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii and Big Game safaris to Africa. Christ is survived by his former wife, Mary Lou, his two sons Tim and Robert and his daughter Cathy and six grandchildren and long time friend and companion Dona Hanan. A special thanks to all of Christ’s close friends who loved him, visited him and comforted him during the last few months of his life. He loved each and everyone of you and you were like family to him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John Chrysostomos Greek Orthodox Monastery located at 4600 93rd Street, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158. A Trisagion Service will be held on February 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at Saint Sophia Cathedral which is located at 1324 S. Normandie Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90006 with a reception to follow. During his last years, Christ became very close to the nuns at St. John Chrysostomos Greek Orthodox Monastery and it was his desire to be buried on the grounds at the monastery. Therefore, funeral services will be held on February 4, 2012 at St. John Chrysostomos Greek Orthodox Monastery located at 4600 93rd Street, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 as follows: 9:00 am for viewing the body; 10 am - funeral service. A reception will follow the services.
