Charlotte E. Stoikowitz of Sierra Madre, CA passed away peacefully following a short illness at the age of 106 on January 12, 2025 in Glendora, CA. She was born in Remington, IN on May 14, 1918, the daughter of Edward Dunbar & Ona Belle (Wilson) Bellows of Remington and was the youngest of three children. She married Richard Hutton Stoikowitz in 1943 in Hammond, IN and had five sons. 

She graduated from Remington High School in 1936 and Ball State Teachers College in 1938. Her teaching career began at Schneider Elementary School in Indiana and she continued teaching elementary school in the Merrillville - Ross Township School District for about 30 years. 

She moved to California in 1985 to join her sons and taught as a volunteer at Sierra Madre Elementary School. She also volunteered at the former Arcadia Methodist Hospital. Later, she was the primary caregiver for many years for her son John, who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis. At the age of 98, she moved to Mountain View Terrace, a Board and Care Home near her son Tom in Duarte, CA.

Charlotte is survived by sons Francis R. (‘Frank’ & Debbie), Thomas E. (‘Tom’ & Lorine) and Alexander L. (‘Alex’); grandchildren Cassandra Shigo, Ryan Stoikowitz, Holli Stoikowitz, Eric Russell, Laura Stoikowitz, John Erdelac, Michael Erdelac; and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Richard H., brother Wilson Bellows, her sister Louise Stokes and sons Richard Jr. (‘Dick’ & Marci/Jan, d.) and John B. (‘Jack’ & Madeline).

Services to be held at Douglas & Zook Mortuary in Monrovia, CA on Tuesday, February 11th at 10:30 am, followed by burial at Pioneer Cemetery in Sierra Madre, CA. 

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend by those who loved her, as well as a caring teacher by generations of elementary students.
