Charles Day

DAY - Charles (Charlie) Day, a 40-yr. resident of Sierra Madre, born April 6,1947 in Los Angeles, CA went to be with our Lord on May 11, 2011 after a 5-1/2 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He leaves behind his Wife, Susan Day of Sierra Madre; Mother & Father, Catherine & Robert Day of Monrovia; Cousin, Cindy Smith of Monrovia; Sister-in-law, Eleanor Raleigh of Claremont; as well as several aunts, uncles, additional cousins, Godchildren, nieces , nephews and many loving friends. Charlie attended Don Bosco High School, UCLA and Cal State LA, majoring in electrical engineering. Prior to his disability retirement, he worked as an instrumentation & controls engineering designer for Metropolitan Water District of So. Cal. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Alhambra for 30 years, devoting his time to assisting and entertaining the developmentally disabled. His passion was cars, especially his 1928 Model A Ford and his 1980 Datsun 280Z. He loved the mountains, and he and Susan enjoyed many years at their cabin in Crestline, as well as many camping trips he enjoyed with his Father in the Sierras. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church, 318 N. Baldwin Ave., Sierra Madre, followed by burial at Sierra Madre Pioneer Cemetery, 535 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. A reception will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church following the services. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, P.O.
