Cecilia Romero

July 11, 1936 — March 1, 2024

At 87 years old, Cecilia Romero, born on 11 July 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, passed away on 01 March 2024. For the last five years, she battled an advanced stage of Alzheimer's disease. Sadly, she fought her last battle in March. On February 29th, her condition transitioned, and the last 24 hours of her life were spent in the company of those who cared for her. She awoke one last time to stare into the eyes of her husband and grandson while they held her hand. A few hours later, at 8:07pm, Cecilia passed away peacefully in her sleep with her loving husband John Romero and grandson Robert Ramirez by her side.

A lifelong resident of Monrovia, CA, Cecilia moved to Rancho Mirage, CA nine months prior to her passing to be under the care of medical professionals at Atria Senior Living. During her life, Cecilia raised four children, Kim, David, Zachary, and Kevin Ramirez; with a fifth, her oldest grandson Robert Ramirez, raised with John since Robert was two years old. Cecilia lived a fruitful life, never turning away from the family when in need and never failing to protect her loved ones. She maintained many philosophies in life but is most remembered for her two favorites: 1) "what goes around comes around" and 2) "you can't have your cake and eat it too". Cecilia was a strong and determined woman, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a woman of God. She never backed down from confrontations, never abandoned hope, placed the needs of her family, and loved ones above her own, and devoted herself to God during both blessed and hard times.

Cecilia maintained two great accomplishments in her life: 1) the raising and success of her children and grandchildren and 2) marrying her childhood sweetheart, John Romero. The happiness each of these accomplishments brought to her was unmeasurable. Knowing that she gave her children and grandchildren opportunities not afforded to her and raising them in a world that was not hard and demanding like the one she grew up in brought her peace. Spending the rest of her life with her childhood love, John, brought her the best comforts, joy, happiness, unlimited opportunities, and a sense of fulfillment for her life.

Cecilia's physical body remains on Earth, but her spirit now resides in Heaven surrounded by her sons David and Kevin as well as other family members and loved ones. While it is with heavy hearts we continue our lives without her, rejoice in the knowledge that she is at peace and surrounded by love. Before long, we too will be Gone with the Wind and reunited with her.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; Believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have not told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3
