Carol Irene Rudisaile passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018, in Bradbury, California at the age of 83 after a short battle with ovarian cancer. She spent her last weeks with family and dear friends, all of whom are missing her friendly heart and knowing smile.
Carol was born to Carroll M. and Martha C. Pike in Dexter, Maine on June 19, 1935. With her older brother Robert E. Pike, she grew up in the various New England states. Her father was a Seventh-day Adventist minister. She attended high school at South Lancaster Academy in South Lancaster, Massachusetts, where she met her future husband, Harvey A. Rudisaile, Jr., then graduated from Takoma Academy in Silver Spring, Maryland in 1953. She attended Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, Massachusetts. Carol and Harvey were married on August 19, 1956, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, and moved to Watsonville, California in 1957, where their two children were born. Harvey's career in healthcare administration led the family to move often around California as well as living in Illinois and Florida. They especially treasured their time spent in Saigon, South Vietnam; Yokohama, Japan; and Singapore. In 1998, Carol and Harvey retired to Camden, Maine, where they built their dream home and enjoyed their many friends there for 17 years.
Carol had a gift for seeing and creating beauty, always noticing a flower, a bird, a sunset. Each house the family moved into quickly became a home, filled with beautiful art and objects. She was an excellent cook and loved to eat adventurous food, the spicier, the better. In 1987, Carol found her true calling in creating exquisite porcelain art. She studied with several teachers in Southern California, painting primarily in an intricately-detailed botanical style. She was certified as a Master Artist by the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers in 2013. Her pieces are treasured by many for whom she made precious gifts. She also had a gift for making friends. Everywhere she went, she talked with people and drew out their stories. She was interested and curious, always eager to learn something new. Funny and contrary, Carol's energetic spirit leaves the world a little duller with her passing.
Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harvey Rudisaile of Bradbury, California; daughter Yvonne and husband Craig Flint of Monrovia, California; son Wayne Rudisaile and wife Lori of Indialantic, Florida; grandchildren Stefani Rudisaile, Carrie and TJ Bell. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Pike.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Royal Oaks, 1763 Royal Oaks Dr North, Bradbury, California. Interment will be held privately at Live Oak Memorial Park, Monrovia, California. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Aircraft Fund at The LifeFlight Foundation, P.O. Box 899, Camden, Maine 04843.
