Byron Greer

December 21, 1939 — December 12, 2019

Byron was born on a feather bed on a farm in the little town of Newbern, Tennessee. He would spend his summers there picking berries, milking cows, and chasing frogs. He lived with his parents, two sisters and a brother. He attended high school and college in Memphis. Let's just say that his first year of college didn't go so well, so he went to live with his sister and brother-in-law in Washington state. He finished his education with numerous degrees and then decided that his calling in life was to work with children. His first job was at Clifton Middle School and then on to Monrovia High School, where he would become a football coach, golf coach, activities director and athletic director. He then went back to Clifton Middle School, where he was Vice Principal and then Principal. He was a true family man after marrying Linda and having children, Amy and Nathan. Byron and Linda were married for 46 years. They lived and raised their children in Monrovia, the city that they loved. Amy and Nathan attended Monrovia's schools and were the apple of his eye. Of course, Byron continued his passion for golf into his retirement years. He will be truly missed, loved forever and never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Monrovia.
