Bill L. Jacobs, was born in Lima, Ohio on March 1, 1946 and passed away December 1, 2009. He began his Navy duties in October 1964, and served on the USS Canberra off the Vietnam coast. At the end of his Navy obligations, Bill transferred to Naval Reserve status when he arrived in San Diego and he settled in to California life in September 1968. A Planner for over 18 years, Bill retired from Southern California Edison in 1996, but stayed active helping many church activities and community organizations including, the Lutheran Laymen League and the Lutheran Hour Ministry; in Azusa, the Kiwanis Club and American Legion; the Alhambra/San Gabriel Elks Lodge; the Tournament of Roses organization the “Pedal Pushers,” and numerous other people in need of a good man. Bill is survived by his wife, Marian Reisenbichler-Jacobs; his daughters, Pamela and Wendy Jacobs; his step children, Tara and Kent Reisenbichler; brother, Rowland “Gene” Jacobs, and sister, Donette “Sue” James. Visitation hours from 6-8 PM on Sunday, December 6 will be held at the Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance in Monrovia, and an 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Monday will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Arcadia where Bill had been an active member (handy-man, trustee and usher to name a few of his duties). Contributions in his name may be made to the church, or the “Lutheran Hour Ministry” in care of the Our Savior Lutheran Church at 512 W. Duarte Rd, Arcadia, CA 91007.
