March 11, 1922 — April 12, 2010

Bessie Bornino died in her sleep on the morning of April 12 after suffering a debilitating stroke in February 2008. She is survived by James Bornino, her husband of 50 years. Bessie was born in New York and grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia then met her husband while working in Cleveland, Ohio. Bessie retired from the U.S. civil service in 1986 and since then was very active with the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood Chapter Oinoe. Bess and Jim enjoyed traveling all over the United States and the world. Trisagion will be Wednesday, April 14, at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 15 at 10:00 AM both held at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1324 S. Normandie Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90006. It is requested that any donations be made to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles. Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance assisting the family. (626) 358-3244.
