Arnold Lockhart

The life book of Arnold Lockhart Jr. (Sonny) opened on July 8, 1950 and closed on June 29, 2016. He was the third of six children born to Arnold Lockhart Sr. and Rosetta Lockhart who preceded him in death along with great-granddaughter Ty'keria Lockhart. Sonny grew up in Prentiss, Mississippi where he attended J.E. Johnson High School. Sonny accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at the age of four years old. Sonny moved to Duarte, California with his family in 1966. He completed his high school education at Duarte High School. While attending school he worked part time at a furniture store delivering furniture. He was so proud to be able to buy his first car at the age of sixteen. Sonny joined Israelite Church of God's Holiness and sang in the church choir. After he finished school he started working at Wamo Manufacturing Company. There he met, fell in love, and married Diane McCraw.
Sonny held several jobs before he moved back home to Prentiss, Mississippi in 1984. Sonny joined Springhill Baptist Church and was on the deacon board. After living in Prentiss, Mississippi for twenty-six years he moved back to California to be closer to his family. He joined First Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the deacon board. He sang in the men's choir, worked as the church custodian, he was a very hard working man you may say a jack of all trades he could do almost anything he set out to do. Sonny was a simple man who loved God, his church, and spending time with his family and friends. He could also be comical at times Dag Nabit, he would say what he meant and meant what he said. To drive the point home, he would snap his fingers once maybe twice and that would be the end of that.
Sonny/Deacon Lockhart is heaven bound. He leaves to cherish his memory four children Gary Lockhart and Gale Lockhart (Becky) both of West Covina, California, Leticia White (Nathaniel) of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Sonkecia Lockhart of Victorville, California. Three brothers Pastor Leon Lockhart of Monrovia, California Glen Lockhart (Alberta) and Bobby Lockhart both of Duarte, California. Two sisters Ruby Jewell Milloy (C.J.) of Monrovia, California and Annette Paysinger (Cal) of Indianapolis, Indiana. Ten grandchildren Jasmine Lockhart, Giana Lockhart, Keairra Lockhart, Nathaniel White Jr., Natisha White, Markee White, Kelvin White, De'Trayvion Dysart, Don'Tayvion Dysart, and Naneshia Day. Two great-grandchildren Mi'Keria Harried and Zy'Keria Harried. Three uncles, six aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, church family, and friends. Sonny was so loved; he will be truly missed by all who knew him.
