Ann Marie Hoon

Ann Marie Hoon, 78, passed away peacefully in Arcadia, California on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Ann was born to Helen and Joseph Kleff in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 15, 1942 and was the youngest of two children, always loved by her older brother, Richard Kleff.
While growing up in Grand Rapids, Ann enjoyed life with her many cousins and friends. She attended Mount Mercy High School in Grand Rapids and made many lifelong friends during her years in Michigan. Having an adventurous spirit, Ann and her friend, Marilyn Wycoff, headed out west to California when they were 21 years old to explore the Golden State. Ultimately, California became their new home.
After being introduced to her future husband by Carroll and Bill Hoon, Ann married Roger Donald Hoon on February 24, 1968 and they made their first home in Monrovia, California. Soon after their marriage, the couple welcomed three boys: Michael, Gregory and Vincent. The family moved to Arcadia, California in 1974 and spent many happy years together involved in soccer and scouting. They had many wonderful neighbors who became lifelong friends. The family enjoyed several camping trips and summer visits to Ann's family in Michigan.
Ann was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Arcadia for more than forty years. She volunteered with the Holy Angel's Right to Life Pastoral Ministry, raising funds and supporting their mission. Ann also volunteered at the Pregnancy Help Center of San Gabriel Valley helping young mothers obtain clothing and supplies to assist them with their newborn children. One of Ann's favorite pastimes was taking long strolls at the Los Angeles County Arboretum where she was a member for many years. Ann was an avid quilter and an active member of the Wandering Foot Quilt Guild of Arcadia. She enjoyed making creative and intricate quilts and building strong friendships with the members of her quilt group.
Ann spent her last few years of life at Arcadia Gardens Retirement Hotel in Arcadia. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many people who cared for her during these challenging times with a special thank you to the members of the Hospice Care of the Valley who loved and cared for her during her final days.
Ann is predeceased by her parents, Helen and Joseph Kleff, and her husband, Roger. She is survived by her older brother, Richard (Dee) Kleff and her sons Michael (Mary) Hoon, Gregory (Caryn) Hoon and Vincent Hoon. She is also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass for Ann will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church for close family and friends. She will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery.
