Adolfo Mercado was born May 25, 1929, and peacefully passed away April 26, 2009. He served with pride in the United States Army, United States Navy, as well as many years in the Reserves. He retired after 36 years as a federal service employee. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, MaryEllen Mercado, his children sons, Michael Mercado (Pina), Michael Lutz (Naty), John Lutz (Dolores), daughters, Melanie Lutz-Rogers (Kenny), Linda Lutz-Zuniga, Cindy Mercado, Wendy Lutz, Carol Mercado, and Sheila Lutz-Acosta. He was preceded in death by son Hal Lutz. He also has 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Known to all as "Pope" or "Popo" he was a funny and loving man with a generous heart. Pope will be missed any all who knew him. Funeral Service will be held on Friday May 1, 2009 at 11am Viewing from 10 to 11am both at Douglass and Zook Chapel 600 East Foothill Blvd., Monrovia. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier CA.
